The central government has announced a package for the employees who have retired from the railways. In cleansing the understaffing in the Indian Railways, ex-railway staff age not exceeding 65 years will be re – inducted. In this regard rest of 65 years and below in age retired employees may vie for track man and supervisor positions.
The period shall be for two years with a light of an extension. Their extension shall also depend on extended work rating and medical health for the previous five years of their last working years in the case of the general manager of the railway zone.
As per the report, the Railway Board has begun the process to recruit 25 thousand persons. To mitigate the crisis, they have even recommended re-engaging a retired railroad personnel to fill in the gaps.
Good rating is required 5 years before retirement
To get more information, the candidate has to be having at least an average rating within the confidential report of the five years before actual retirement. Apart from this, they should not have any pending vigilant or disciplinary case against them.
Salary of individuals recruited into this category would be the basic pension, drawn from their last in-hand salary. In addition, they would be entitled to travel allowance. However they will, in a contrary situation, subsist on the same salary without any further allowances or increase in salary.
10,000 vacancies for various posts in the railway sector.
The report has also mentioned this decision was taken by the Railway Board as the number of train accidents is increasing with the reduced manpower. In North-Western Railway alone, there are over 10,000 vacant posts which make it hard to run the trains. Rehiring of the retired employees is required according to the board to cover the urgent need of people on important posts such as a supervisor and others.
