The federal administration has bestowed a special gift to the elderly citizens. Whether they are financially capable or not, this is a piece of great news for all citizens aged 70 and above. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has made many important announcements regarding the health sector at the All India Institute of Ayurveda, New Delhi. He launched and laid the foundation stone of projects worth over Rs 12850 crore in the program. During this, he has made a lot of significant announcements regarding Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana.
As the name itself suggests, the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) is a health insurance plan for all citizens regardless of their socioeconomic status and covers Rs 5 Lakhs for every elderly citizen in the country.
Prime Minister Modi instituted this present at the All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) New-Delhi on the Dhanvantari Jayanti and 9 th Ayurveda Day. The Ayushman Bharat scheme is operational in 33 states and union territories barring three states of the country which include Delhi, Odisha and West Bengal.
In fact, this scheme has been so far limited to the benefit of the poor. But now this scheme will expand benefits of Ayushman Bharat scheme. It also has been put into practice. The launch of the Ayushman Bharat Extended Scheme is expected to benefit approximately six crore peoples (around four lakh five hundred families). The age of the person eligible for this scheme should have been entered in the Aadhar card. Every person over the age of 70 can now use the benefits under this program.
What are the steps involved in the card making?
Some important documents are needed for enrollment in Ayushman Bharat Yojana (How to Apply for Ayushman Card). These are Aadhar number, ration card, contact number, domicile certificate and all the other family members relevant documents.
In this case you need to register on Ayushman App or PMJAY portal. Yes, those individuals, who possess an Ayushman card already, have to go to the portal or app, and make an application again and complete their eKYC. Those senior citizens, aged sixty-eight years and above whose families are already enrolled in AB PM-JAY, shall receive an extra top-up up to ₹5 lakh per year.
This coverage will be covered by the documents presented by the Ayushman card. Folks that are beneficiaries of other public health insurances systems such as Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS), Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Services (ECCHS) and Ayushman Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) will be required to opt for either Ayushman Bharat or Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS).
