New Honda Activa Electric launch
It will be significant to discuss that Honda Activa has always remained a preferred option for the customers of India. Now, for that, Honda is bringing a new version of the electric vehicle. Some people have heard about the rumors for quite some time and it has recently been announced that the electric scooter is expected to go on sale starting from the beginning of 2025.
Announcement and Production
At the SIAM annual session, Honda revealed it will launch its first electric scooter in the country. Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India is pleased to announce this upcoming launch as detailed by the Director of Sales and Marketing, Yogesh Mathur.
Today Honda has begun two manufacturing lines in Gujarat and Karnataka as demand grows. It is to start production in December 2024 and initiate operations early 2025. The first electric scooter would be the Activa Electric.
Features of Activa Electric
The Activa Electric or a renamed version of it will be launched as an electric scooter with very little modification to the existing Honda Activa. It will not be built on a dedicated platform solely for electric cars and it will have a fixed battery pack. It will be able to cover a top speed of about 50 kilometer per hour. The scooters will rival Ola Electric and Ather Energy in India, said the source.
